Hiring FAQs

When do you begin accepting applications?
We begin accepting applications on January 1st

Where do I submit my application?
All applications (returning and new employees) are submitted on our website, Online Application - Georgetown Aquatics

Do I need to be lifeguard certified in order to apply?
No, we begin accepting lifeguard applications without certifications. However, all job offers are contingent upon successful completion of county approved lifeguard training. Find course information here: Georgetown Aquatics Lifeguard Course Information. Front desk positions do not require certification.

How do you contact applicants?
All communication is done through email and our payroll department email [email protected]. It is the applicant’s responsibility to regularly check their email and to communicate with us through email. We will not call or text applicants.

Once I submit my application, what are the next steps?
All applicants (returning and new) will be sent a questionnaire about your summer scheduling conflicts to the email address that was provided on your application.

  • For new applicants, once the questionnaire is completed, you will be invited to orientation, if we have a position available. If we do not have a position available, you will be notified.
  • Returning applicants, once the questionnaire is received, will receive a job offer towards the end of March/beginning of April, if positions are available. If we do not have a position available, you will be notified.

When will I receive a job offer?
We begin with sending out desk/lifeguard job offers in late March or early April. Managers’, assistant managers’ and operator’s job offers are sent towards the end of April and early May.

What happens if I applied, but did not receive a questionnaire?
If you did not receive a questionnaire beginning February 1, check your spam folder. If you still did not receive the form, send an email to [email protected] to inquire about why.

What happens if I cannot attend orientation?
Orientation is a requirement of the hiring process. If you do not attend orientation, then we cannot move forward with the hiring process.

When and where are orientations held?
Orientations are usually held on Sundays in February, March and April at Georgetown Aquatics’ office, 4700 Bready Road, Rockville, Md 20853.
All details about the orientation will be in the orientation email to the applicant. All applicants must confirm they are attending to reserve their spot because there are a limited number of spots available for each orientation.

After I attend orientation, what are the next steps?
After attending orientation, if we have a position available, a job offer will be emailed to the email address that was provided on the application. Applicants over the age of 18 are subject to a background check prior to a position being offered. Job offers are emailed beginning in late March/early April for desk and lifeguard positions, and in late April/early May for managers, assistant managers and operators.

How do I return my job offer?
All job offers must be signed and emailed back to our payroll department email [email protected].

I received my job offer, but I did not get the pool I wanted, what can I do?
If you did not get your first choice it is because that particular pool is fully staffed for this summer. We tried to place you at your second-choice pool or a pool close to your area.

After I send my job offer contract back, what happens next?

  • For new employees: Once the payroll department receives your email with your signed job offer then we will begin the onboarding process. You will receive two emails one from [email protected] explaining the onboarding process and one from [email protected], with the link to setup the employee portal. You must complete the onboarding process in order to receive your paychecks on time. The employee portal is the most secure way to submit your social security number.
  • For returning employees: Once the payroll department receives your email with your signed job offer, the lifeguard certification form will be uploaded to the employee portal, and you will be notified via an email from [email protected] stating that a form has been added to your account.

Where do I submit my tax forms? lifeguarding certification?
All tax forms and lifeguard certifications are submitted through the employee portal. You will receive an email when a required form(s) was added to your account. Please remember to check your spam folder.

What happens if I do not complete the onboarding process?
Failure to complete the onboarding process will result in a lower pay rate as stipulated in your job offer. Your pay will be increased once onboarding is completed, however not retroactively. Not completing the onboarding process will result in a delay in receiving your paycheck.

What if I am a returning employee and I forget my password to the employee portal?
Email the payroll department at [email protected] and a new registration link from [email protected] will be emailed to you. You will need to use your actual social security number when re-registering in the portal.

Where is my voucher number for my uniform located?
Your voucher number is located on your job offer next to your pay rate.

How do I pick up my uniform?
You can pick up your swimsuit (t-shirt and whistle will be dropped off at the pool) at Capital Swim and Sport in Kensington. Please check our website in April for their hours Uniform Pick Up Schedule
