Lifeguard Certification at Hood College @ Hood College
May 17 @ 9:00 am – 7:30 pm

We are excited to offer you American Red Cross Lifeguarding Blended Learning. Blended learning combines online learning with in-person skills sessions where you will practice skills and demonstrate competency. Please plan to complete all eLearning modules, including the CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid final eLearning exam, at least a day prior to your first in-person skills session. Most participants complete the eLearning portion of the course in approximately 7 hours. Your experience may vary widely based on several factors, including your PC, internet speed, and previous training. I

We anticipate conducting the in-class coursework and water skill sessions over approximately two ten-hour days at Hood College Swimming Pool. Please plan on getting in the water each day and students must attend both days! You must complete the online portion prior to class! You should bring lunch with you as we will be working through lunch in order to get you out as quickly as possible.

You will access the e-learning component through the email that will be sent 2 weeks prior to class.  When you receive your email you will access the online training portion by creating a log in by using your email address and password, click “Launch Course” to begin.

All Frederick classes with be located at Hood College.    At Hood College, you can park in the student lot behind Gambrill Gymnasium or on Magnolia Avenue.  The pool is in the blue and white fabric building next to the tennis courts.  We will meet at the pool.

This class requires the completion of all lifeguard skills and written tests. Students will need to bring their own CPR mask or will need to buy one at the class for $10. Students will be in the water for this class. There is no online component to this class.

Lifeguard Recertification @ Rockville Swim Center
May 24 @ 9:00 am – 6:15 pm

This 1 session American Red Cross Lifeguard recertification course is offered by the City of Rockville.  Online learning component required to be completed before course day. Online link to be distributed to students via email. Successful completion of this class results in 2-year certification in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid.

Students registering for a re-certification class must present their American Red Cross certification card on the first day of class. Certifications must be current in order to participate in a re-certification class and Student must bring their CPR mask to class.
